Visiting Graves: Sunnah and Etiquette

Visiting Graves - Sunnah

  • Enter the cemetery with humility and remembrance of Allah.
  • Greet the deceased with salam when visiting graves.
  • Make dua for forgiveness and mercy for the departed.
  • Reflect on the temporary nature of this worldly life.

Prayer for the Deceased

O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, grant them well-being, and pardon them.

Graveyard Etiquette

Speak softly, avoid loud laughter, and dress modestly. Do not sit on graves or walk between graves unnecessarily. Make sincere dua for all Muslims buried there.

A Reminder for Every Visit

Every soul will taste death.

Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:185

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156
